Toxic Substances for Pets
Chewing gum is toxic to pets.
Xylitol poisoning is on the rise. Xylitol is a sweetener found in sugar free chewing gums, candy and baked foods. A substantial amount ingested may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure resulting
in depression, loss of coordination and seizures. These signs can occur as soon as 30 minutes after ingestion.
Other Toxic Substances
- Chocolate (the higher the level of cocoa greater the toxicity)
- Grapes and raisins
- Almonds
- Caffeine
- Mushrooms
- Onions
- Raw cloves of garlic
- Tobacco
- Alcohol
- Baby food containing garlic or onion
